Piano and French Horn Lessons in Mapperley, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
Hello. My name is Lesley and I'm a qualified and experienced piano and french horn teacher. I'm offering piano and french horn teaching in the Mapperley, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire area.
Learning a musical instrument and being involved in music can be a really wonderful, enjoyable and fulfilling thing to do. I'm passionate about music and love helping people discover and develop their musical talents.
Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, my lessons have temporarily moved online, although I am hoping and planning to return to face to face lessons in September. I have a busy and varied teaching practice where I'm currently a teacher for pupils as young as six, right through to adult learners. These pupils include people coming to me for private lessons and also those coming via organisations. In my work for organisations, I currently teach for a Nottinghamshire based project called Young Aspire. This organisation provides performing arts tuition for children in Nottingham who would otherwise not have easy access to lessons.
Pupils come to me to learn just for fun or to work towards grades. As a teacher, I'm happy for people to do either.
As well as lessons, I arrange performance opportunities for my students in the form of pupil concerts. This gives valuable performance experience, something which can be hard to come by for piano players in particular. It can also be a very useful experience in helping pupils prepare for exams. My most recent pupil concert was held in November last year at the Sherwood Methodist Church and was such an enjoyable occasion. About twenty pupils, both children and adults, performed to a wonderful turnout of supportive friends and family. All performers did themselves proud!
I have daytime vacancies at the moment to start in September.
In addition, I offer music theory lessons. When taken in conjunction with instrumental lessons, theory lessons can be very useful in helping to provide a greater, more comprehensive understanding of music. They are especially helpful if support is needed to pass Grade Five Theory (a necessary qualification for taking Grade 6 and above in practical music exams).
I usually provide lessons from my home in Mapperley but arrangements can be made for me to come to you if needs be. I usually teach from home during the week and teach from pupils' homes on a Saturday morning.
I charge £15.50 per half hour and most lessons are for half an hour. Longer lessons may be more appropriate for students who are coming up to exams or for those studying at a more advanced level.
I hold a current enhanced DBS check.
I'm also a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (www.ism.org)
